Over the next few weeks, we will be presenting introductions to our staff so you can get to know all of us a little better.

This week we are introducing Dr. Stephen Sorenson.

Dr. Stephen Sorenson is the medical director of Vein Specialists of Illinois. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine, and is board certified in Emergency Medicine. He is also a registered vascular technician and a registered physician in vascular interpretation.

Dr. Sorenson has 17 years of clinical experience focusing exclusively on venous disease and has performed over 25,000 patient treatments. He is dedicated to delivering the best possible treatment and providing patients with a comfortable and respectful experience while in his care. His experience is rewarded by the large number of patients referred to him by prior patients and primary care physicians. Over the years, many of Dr. Sorenson’s referring physicians have also become patients.

Dr. Sorenson’s mission is to provide each patient with a comfortable, individualized treatment plan that will yield the best possible outcome from treatment. “Our office encompasses a comprehensive, minimally invasive approach to varicose vein care. Vein care treatments do not require hospitalization or surgery, all procedures are performed on an outpatient basis and normal activity can be resumed immediately after treatment.”

After working at a large vein corporation for 15 years, Dr. Sorenson opened his own private practice in Elgin in February of 2010. Since then, Dr. Sorenson has focused on getting to know the local communities and making Vein Specialists of Illinois a contributing member of those communities. After participating in a community homeowner clean-up event last year, Dr. Sorenson was inspired to become a board member of the Neighborhood Housing Services of Fox Valley, an organization whose mission is to create opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their neighborhoods. An avid runner, biker, skier and hiker himself; Dr. Sorenson enjoys promoting the importance of healthy legs to an active lifestyle. He has both sponsored and participated in local races such as the South Elgin Harvest Hustle and the Crystal Lake Half Marathon.
